Ranked modes and map pool

Ranked rotates six modes, each with its own map pool. The same brawler can be a first pick in one mode and a wasted slot in another, so the mode and the map come before everything else in a draft.

Closed, medium and open maps

Smart Draft sorts every Ranked map into one of three types, and the assistant scores brawlers differently on each.

Closed maps

Closed maps have lots of walls and short sightlines. Point-blank burst damage is at its strongest here, while brawlers whose damage is fixed at range underperform.

Medium maps

Medium maps mix cover with open lanes. Fixed ranged damage is strong here, and point-blank burst loses much of its value.

Open maps

Open maps have few walls and long sightlines. Range pays off, tanks struggle to close the distance, and on some open maps the assistant rules tanks out entirely.

Two details can matter as much as the type. Bushes help assassins sneak up unseen, and a wall-breaker on the enemy team can turn a closed map into an open one by clearing the cover your picks were counting on.
